This page explains how PawPriceGuide researches, writes, and maintains its content, and what standards I hold myself to. I’m Lucas Cardemil, the founder and sole researcher behind PawPriceGuide — I’m not a veterinarian, insurance agent, or financial advisor, and the sections below are meant to be transparent about exactly what that means for the content on this site.
My Mission
I exist to help pet owners understand realistic veterinary costs and pet insurance options so they can plan ahead and avoid financial surprises. I aim for content that is practical, honest about uncertainty, and free of scare tactics or inflated claims.
How I Research Pricing
Where this site quotes figures, they come from cited third-party sources such as the American Veterinary Medical Association’s economic reports and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Consumer Price Index. I do not publish price tables I cannot trace to a source, and I removed earlier cost estimates that I could not verify. Because prices vary significantly by clinic, region, pet size, and case complexity, I encourage readers to get a written estimate from their own veterinarian or insurance provider before making decisions.
What My Content Is — and Isn’t
My articles are general informational guides, not individualized veterinary, financial, or insurance advice. I do not diagnose pets, sell insurance policies, or provide licensed financial guidance. Where an article discusses a health condition, it is meant to explain typical cost drivers and general context — not to describe your specific pet’s condition or replace a veterinary exam.
Accuracy and Updates
Veterinary costs and insurance industry terms change over time. I periodically review and update articles, particularly the figures drawn from cited sources, to keep information reasonably current. If you notice outdated information, please tell me — see my Contact page.
How I Handle Comparisons and Reviews
When I compare insurance providers or services, I evaluate them on consistent, disclosed criteria — typically coverage structure, exclusions, and publicly documented policy terms. I do not accept payment for favorable placement, and affiliate relationships (see my Affiliate Disclosure) do not determine my conclusions.
Sourcing and Claims
I avoid citing specific statistics or company data I cannot verify at the time of writing, and I do not fabricate quotes, reviews, or ratings. Where I reference general industry trends, I describe them as such rather than attributing them to a specific, unverifiable source.
Use of AI Tools
I use AI tools to help with drafting and structuring text. They are not a source of facts: every figure, law and policy term must come from a cited public source, and I review each page against those sources before and after publishing. If a claim cannot be traced to a source, I remove it.
Corrections
I want this content to be as accurate and useful as possible. If you spot an error — whether a pricing figure, a factual claim, or a broken link — please reach out via my Contact page and I will review and correct it.
